Now, at 48 years of age, I completed my Associate program and plunged right into my bachelor program. My goal is a bachelor's degree by the time I reach my 50th birthday. So far, I’m on track.

Websites tagged "subtlety" on Postsaver

Pingback from Websites tagged "subtlety" on Postsaver

I highly recommend you contact the University of Phoenix and get some information on their online Associates Degree program where you take two classes at a time. I started my program 18 months ago with zero credits and am within reach of my degree...I complete my program in July of this year. With 18 credits already, you can probably do the same in less than a year AND with the convenience of online classes, you can still work full time, be a wife and a full-time mom.

Like you, I am seriously intimidated by math...but, with no math history (other than high school 30 years ago), I only needed 2 math classes, so depending on your major...maybe you don't need 4? Anyway, please give my enrollment counselor Connie Weiss a call at 800-366-9699, x76378. She can put you in touch with someone who can give you lots more information and even help you enroll if that is your choice. You can tell her that you were referred by one of her students who is in the process of transitioning from her Associates program to her Bachelor program. Good luck! Hang in there...if I can do it, anyone can!!

Do hereby loan the use of my fingers and toes to Anne for 9 weeks (twice). Further, if Anne should find she has to do fractions, I am willing to stand - with other pledges - on top of each other.

I hate math too. I know a good part of my mental block is just pure math anxiety, but I accept that math and I are not friends. However, don't be so hard on yourself. You are obviously a great writer - your strengths are in the written word, and ultimately, that is going to count more. Modern technology has given us calculators and spreadsheets to handle math, but it's not as if Microsoft Word can tap out an essay, email, or blog post ... right?

As far as your son, I can relate to that as well! There was about a six to eight month period that I didn't think my son was going to live through. My son is now 16 and still among the living, so there is hope! I don't think it has a lot to do with your parenting skills, but more with the phase he is going through. 11-13 is a very tough time for kids. They still want to be a kid, but they want to be treated like an adult. They have to find their place and their boundaries (pushing them at every opportunity, just to see if there is any wiggle room.) I'm not sure if it is tougher on them or on us as parents. (My bet is that it's tougher for us!)

Hang in there... it will get better!
