My Experience at Penn Foster College - Health Information Technology

  • Christmas is....here?

I'm not sure about all of you but I find it appaulling to see Christmas decorations and other such stuff out in the stores, in some cases, BEFORE Halloween! Some of my friends have seen that and I have seen it come to the shelves the day after. It's nuts.

Folks, dont' mean to preach here, but are we forgetting the real reason for the season?? If not for religious reasons, then for "family".

I really do love this time of year, along with everyone else, I guess it's just hitting me a little more of what it's all really about :-)

No.....I haven't started my shopping yet, but HAVE made a list of what I think I'll be getting people, that seems to help me out. How about you?

  • English comp WHEW! Do I feel dumb!

Ok - so I took an exam last night that I didn't do so well on. I passed but not to my standards at all and just could not figure out why. I was at least 90% confident of my answers (I say this because there ALWAYS seem to be 2 answers of the 4 that fit perfectly...) so on my corrected test, next to the ones I got wrong, they list where I can find the answers so I can review where I went wrong. I see pages numbers, that's fine, I understand them, then I see "Sent Sk 30-45" and the such. I had NO IDEA what this was until the next day, today, when I sign on, I see the SUPPLEMENTALS that I THOUGHT I may not need after reviewing them a bit at the start of my course. Not sure why I thought I might not need them....well if anyone is taking this course right now, you DO need them. Print them out (do it in booklet style as they are 80-some pages long!)

So I now get to review where I went wrong, get a better understanding of it becfore moving on to the next section (as I do each time anyways, but I have more wrong THIS time) LOL

I have a bit of catching up to do also. It seems a bit weird that neither the Study Guide nor the Course book mention doing work or for me to refer to these other supplementals. SOOOoooOOOO, now I know and I've got it covered! LOL  :-)

Better scores next time for sure!

  • English Comp keeps you BUSY!

Every few minutes it seems there's something to write or revise. It's making it a little slow going in this subject but I managed to get alot done on it this weekend and I'm getting ready to get the books out again right now. This course really gets you into writing. I thought I'd never be able to come up with essay ideas but the course is really pointing me in the right direction and there are tons of ideas to write about now :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

  • The internet - what a wonderful invention!!

When I need a break from studies or just from the 'every day', I log onto the Internet and go to my facebook or Myspace accts just to catch up with what's going on with people around me and my area. Well I started getting curious about where my OLD friend may be now. I'm talking like grammar school days and one girl I hadn't seen in just over 20 years! She'd been my best friend from 3rd grade, then moved to TX for HS and never came back but her family would travel here to Daytona Beach ever Summer so I got to see her at least once a year and we wrote all the time. We even came up with sending tapes of ourselves talking to each other. Sweet huh?  LOL

Well, sometime in 1991 was the last time we ever talked on the phone. I'm not sure but I may have said I'd call her back, that didn't happen and we really never caught up again. I DO understand the phone works both ways but as I remember, I was horrible at keeping up with people. Hence one of the reason's I LOVE the Internet. It's at my finger tips all day so when I think of something I need to tell someone, I write them and thats' that.

So I got curious and started seeking this friend out. Knowing what her married name was when she'd come here for a visit in 1988 with him, that was where I started. I'll have to say, over the past few years, I've become VERY proficient searching public records sites and putting 'two and two' together to find out most anything I want to about people I'm interested in.

Today I saw the first picture of my friend I've seen in 20 years!! Granted, it was taken in 2004 and if I'd passed her on the street, I would not have known her, but it's HER! I also found an email, and a mailing address. I'm debating on exactly how I should contact her and what approach I should take........if anyone has any suggests, just let me know :)
