Project Working Mom Winner

Erin Johnson-Pina

Professional Bridal Consultant Program
Ashworth College

I am not going to make history. I am going to change history, my history. For over 10 years now i have been on ssi income and welfare and i have been holding back due to anxiety and depression. I am now ready to break down my wall and make a change for myself and my family. I want to own my own business and help women have a wedding day they will remember forever. A day that i wish i had for my wedding. I am ready to accomplish something for once in my life and be proud of who i am. I am ready for my children and family to be proud of me. I want to succeed in life. I no longer want to feel like i can not do it. I know i can do it and i am ready to take that 1st step back into society. I am tired of living month to month not knowing how bills will get paid. I am tired of living in low-income housing where they are always in your business. I want to own my own home, i want to travel with my family. I want to be able to take them places and do things with them like i was blessed to be able to as a child. I am ready, I am ready to succeed. I am ready to change my path to the future. I am ready to change MY HISTORY.

Erin,

Good luck on working yourself off SSI. I hope you are getting some decent benefits counseling to help you make the most of this and your future work. I am in Arizona, but there are Community Work Incentives Coordinators all over the country that help people on SSI and SSDI learn about work incentives. Let me know if I can refer you to one. Best of everything from one PWM scholarship winner to another.

I appreciate the concern which is been used here. The think need to be sorted out as it about the individual but it can be with everyone. It sound like an obvious improvement to add a field.  There are some great topics to discuss in there the things which are mentioned and used here are unanimous

About ProjectWorkingMom

The objective of Project Working Mom is to heighten the awareness and elicit support for mothers and fathers to advance their education and, in turn, the quality of life for themselves and their families.

We at eLearners.com have uncovered three major barriers associated with parents, especially single moms, returning to school align with three primary issues—time, money and confidence. We are committed to addressing these issues by raising awareness of the crisis, aggregating support for a solution and serving as a resource for parents to pursue their educational dreams.

eLearners.com is uniquely positioned to facilitate a solution for this underserved population. Online education, for which eLearners.com has become a reliable and trusted resource, is inherently a solution to help resolve the issue of time. Studying online allows single moms to study at any time and at their own pace. eLearners.com also plays a supportive role by providing guidance, a community and comprehensive tools to help single moms, single dads, and parents across the country overcome their fears and gain the confidence they need.

Regarding the economic barrier, most single moms need financial aid to go to school part-time; however, the federal government offers limited financial assistance to students enrolled less than full-time. To help fill this void, eLearners.com has compiled a database of over 2.4 million scholarships, valued at $15 billion, in addition to the site’s financial aid resources.

With this in mind, we have launched Project Working Mom: Putting Education to Work and through this project, we hope to become a catalyst for communities to come together to help establish much-needed resources for the single mom population.
