I'm going to finish my communications degree at Ashford University. They will accept up to 99 transfer credits and I can take a class at a time every five to six weeks. Pretty crucial when you're working, have a family and are trying to go to school at the same time. But I'm going to do it.

It's been 23 years since I was in college, in a traditional college classroom. I was so disappointed. I didn't finish in four years, and I didn't have the finances to finish. Now I've had a career and worked in jobs I never expected. I've raised my son who is now in college. I've done some volunteer work that has made me very proud. But I still feel I've left this unfinished.

I want to start now. Patience isn't one of my best qualities. I know there's admissions, transfer credit evaluation, enrollment. But I'm so excited -- I want to get going. I can't wait to do this.

Blogs

I'm new here, and I was reading the blog section.
A scary quote from the article: "Most families are spending $500 a month on groceries," [Linda] Murray [editor-in-chief of BabyCenter.com] said. "That's a mortgage payment for many of them."

My oldest daughter has given me three beautiful grandbabies, I have a 17 year old son and a 15 year old daughter still living at home. My husband has two jobs in the ambulance service, one he dispatches and one he is an EMT. I lost my job after I had back surgery, I have been franticly trying to find another job, things are so tough right now with everything going up in price. My question is how am I going to try to go back to school when I can't even help my husband pay the bills? By the way my oldest is going back to college to be a paramedic even with three kids ages 5,3 and 1. I live in West Virginia and am totally interested in trying to take online classes to further my education. I do have a 2 year old son that I spend most of my time with but I also have a laptop at home so it'd be easier for me to take classes online. I'm just scared about being able to pay for it and all the money situations. Right now, my husband, son, and I are doing pretty well but we're not living the high life with nice cars and a big fancy house. We're renting and garage apartment and I got my car for free. How do I know if I can afford college? My husband is still paying on his loans from when he went to college but now he's talking about going back to college. I need a chance to do something for myself. Can someone help me out or mentor me? I seriously need help and have no one to talk to. Please and thank you.
