Apparently there is just one very active blogger. As a soon-to-be online communication studies major, I'd like to either blog here or link my blog about returning to school online, as a working mom. How does someone become an "approved blogger"? I couldn't see any info about this.

Any other Project Working Mom 3 winners?

I was just curious if the announced May/June "Project Working Moms...and Dads Too" are posting here? I was so excited when I found out I was jumping up and down in my office. Not my usual calm, quiet persona here! You can imagine the reaction from my co-workers. They are so supportive and happy for me. I start classes Tuesday, June 9. How about everyone else?

I'm already in school

Question does anyone know of a scholorship progam once u r already enrolled into an online school

Going back to school

I am a 45 years old, I am married and have three children and three grandchildren. My oldest daughter has given me three beautiful grandbabies, I have a 17 year old son and a 15 year old daughter still living at home. My husband has two jobs in the ambulance service, one he dispatches and one he is an EMT. I lost my job after I had back surgery, I have been franticly trying to find another job, things are so tough right now with everything going up in price. My question is how am I going to try to go back to school when I can't even help my husband pay the bills? By the way my oldest is going back to college to be a paramedic even with three kids ages 5,3 and 1. Thanks,De

I need some reassurance....

I have been at this since 2007 attending a local community college, while working full time, part time and raising my 'lil one. Needless to say I am TIRED!

I've been looking at schools online that have more of an accelerated program so I can finish my Bachelors 'cus at the rate I am going, I'll be 42 til I get a darn associates degree. Anyhow, what finally kicked it in the butt for me was to see a young 20 something w/ NO COLLEGE get promoted into a higher paying position, while I've been employed with the same company for well over 15 years.................

I am tired, disgusted and just truly thinking to myself, "what is the point???????????????????????"

I have taken so much time out of my life already and feel like I have cheated my daughter outta time....

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am presently not a mother myself, but have a question for all of you who've managed to go back to school, work, and be a mother.

My sister is currently a mother of two (my nephew was born in May and my niece is 2 and a half), she just got back to work after having been laid off this spring. She's now working part-time in a retail position. I think she's very smart, hard-working, fast learning, hyper-organized (we joke about her master list of all her lists for her wedding), and quickly moves up the ladder in any job she takes. Since her hubbie (God bless him) is a bit of a layabout, she's essentially the breadwinner in that family (or will be once she feels compelled to go back to full time).

I'd like to convince her to go back to school, not necessarily to get a full degree, but to take some courses to get her into a better job (or at least, give her the opportunity to make the most out of the job she has). The problem is that she's very sensitive about her work and gets offended when I try to encourage her. I'm to the point that I say nothing, because I don't want her to think I'm judgmental about her (umm, although I suppose in reading this some of you may believe that I am being that way).

So the question I have is: what motivated you out there to get back to school? Was there any kind of encouragement or support or anything you got from family or friends that helped you to take the next step? Or is it simply too much pressure to get when you're trying so hard to juggle everything else in your life? Is this a decision that has to come from within the individual?

If any of you have any tips, suggestions, resources, etc., to help her at least look at education as an option, I'd really appreciate it!

online learners

I have been going to school online since 2005 for a MLIS degree. My problem now is that I am beginning to feel burnt out and resentful everytime I look at the computer. My 9 yr old daughter wants me to quit. Any advice? The only solution I have is to decrease my work load which means that I will only take 1 Masters level class instead of 2 per semester. Plus the costs of classes keep rising. I am a single mom w/ 2 small children and limited support.
