    I'm A Student and I regret it

All I did was see an ad of Obama saying " working Moms go back to school" I ws only curious someone contacted me. The next thing I know was I was enrolled, they got me a grant"they said" I was also told that I would get part of the grant to help with expences get a lap top for school etc.  I was to get this money after I start on 6/22/09 and 2 weeks later I'd get it.  Well here we are over a month and nothing. I explained that I could not find a job the city came to cut the utilities, now what do I do.  I'm completely lost in school and failing , I have a niece who was admitted to St. Judes with a brain tumor and I'm a mess what do I do?

     Hi Laura,

I'm so sorry to hear about your situtation. What school are you at? You have a right to pause your classes. If you are experiencing financial hardships because you were misled by their admissions and financial aid representatives, you have every right to tell them that.

Do you have anything in writing from the school that says when you would receive the grant?

    Laura,

Were you ever able to get through this? If their admissions and financial aid folks weren't upfront with you, you don't deserve to be stuck with this. And there are schools that don't push any faster than you're ready to go. Know that most of them are evaluated and even compensated by their ability to recruit and keep students, so sales is part of what they do. But they should operate with integrity.

    Gail
