    online learners

I have been going to school online since 2005 for a MLIS degree. My problem now is that I am beginning to feel burnt out and resentful everytime I look at the computer. My 9 yr old daughter wants me to quit. Any advice? The only solution I have is to decrease my work load which means that I will only take 1 Masters level class instead of 2 per semester. Plus the costs of classes keep rising. I am a single mom w/ 2 small children and limited support.

    Re: online learners

Trish, I know how hard online education can be with family and work pressures.  I have 5 children and I work the night shift (12 hours 7p-7a) and overtime to cover my tution and books (I get no financial aide).  I am to graduate in December from a Masters Degree program online from Drexel University.  I can tell you your frustration is not uncommon.  Most of the students in my program are women with children who are working full time.  I try to spend time daily with my children (eating together, working around the house together).  They also see how important my education is to me.
